One of our customers, Rustin Pierce, (username: White991S) posted his Porsche 991 S equipped with an Armytrix exhaust system on the 6SpeedOnline blog. Overjoyed with the results, both performance and appearance-wise, Rustin posted the following in his post: “I have a 991 S and just had an Armytrix exhaust installed. Centric Parts has just announced the availability of a range of front and rear StopTech Big Brake Kits to fit a wide range of Nissan and Infiniti models. RENNtech released their new carbon fiber front strut brace and boost pressure gauge for the Mercedes-Benz 45 AMG lineup. These parts will fit the CLA (117), the A-Class (176), and the GLA (156). The boost pressure gauge offers direct visual indication of your Mercedes CLA’s turbo performance and available boost pressure. RENNtech’s easy-to-read, 67mm gauge faces features an attractive carbon composite look. In addition, the gauge mounts directly into your CLA dash without cutting or drilling. It is available in both PSI and BAR readings with large, easy-to-read numbers in all lighting conditions and features a white illuminated background for low lighting.

The construction on the carbon fiber strut brace features reinforced eight point mounting brackets made out of aluminium. The customized crossbar is made out of high-performance carbon fiber to minimize flexing between the vehicles strut towers. So why is this the best flash? Having tuned several Turbo’s since 2006 with Softronic, I have been able to first hand experience the performance increase and see the proven results on the dyno and at the track. My very own 700HP 996 Turbo was Softronic Tuned. My 997.1 Turbo with GT3076 Turbos ran the Texas Mile at 206.5mph and could drive to the grocery store comfortably! And finally my 997.2 Turbo S was tuned with Softronic competing in the 6 day grueling Targa Newfoundland road rally.  I have owned 2 Cayenne V8 cars where the performance was noticeably improved and finally a 2010 GT3RS that came much alive after the flash.

Do I have to send my ECU to you? No way! That would be dumb. Flash your car from the convenience of your work or home via the OBDII port and the flash cable we provide. You follow the instructions as seen here (written by myself to be very clear for any computer skill level) - www.softronictuning.com/installation. All you need is a windows base laptop (DFI cars min 4gb of ram), hard line or wireless internet, and a battery tender. Mac users, I have had customers boot up in windows mode to do this. If you have the tools but not the confidence, no problem, give me a call and I will do a remote screen share with you and help you do the read and write – 4809663040 x222.

Do I need to wait to do the flash for my other mods? Nope, all basic bolt-ons such as exhaust, intake, plenum, intercoolers, etc do not require a re-reflash. The only time when you need to do a new tune is when you upgrade turbo or fuel components. The ECU will adjust for basic bolt-ons and should never require special tuning for such things as a exhaust. If you buy the flash now and add on bigger turbos or injectors at a later date, you only pay the difference as a Upgrade Tune not the price of a full new flash.

What about the gas I run. I only get 91 octane? We have tunes available for both 91 and 93 octane (95 and 98 ron equilvalent). DFI cars use the same map so its not a issue. Anytime you run better octane, the performance will increase. It is not recommended to run straight C16 if you have cats as this will damage the O2 sensors and cause a issue.

Is there any other things I need to do besides the flash? Technically no. The only thing we recommend doing on the Turbocharged Porsche is upgrading to a 1 step colder spark plug. Because of the increased horsepower, torque, and boost pressure, the stock plug will foul out pretty quick at peak torque around 4500rpm. This will cause a misfire and be immediately noticed. Colder spark plug is always recommended when increasing the power, especially when that increase is 100hp!

Do you do “Custom Tuning”? We do custom tuning for upgrades such as larger injectors, bigger turbos, VTG modifications, MAFless, etc. These custom tunes are priced per basis. Regular tuning is done on your direct file, that is why we have you read it out. For all tunes, we raise the secondary O2 limits so you will not get a CEL from high flow cats or catless exhausts. On 6speed cars we raise the rev limiter 500rpm unless requested not to.

Porsche 991 Carrera Roll Bar Released by Agency Power

We have had so much success with our Agency Power bolt in roll/harness bar for the 996/997 that we decided it was time to make one for the 991 Carrera. The 996/997 bar fit all models of the 911 chassis including the Carrera, Turbo, GT3, GT2. The 991 chassis will be the same which gives us the advantage to have a product for all models of the new 2013 and up 911. Considered a harness bar, the bolt-in unit gives the driver something to secure their racing harnesses to for track days while giving that GT3 race look. What makes the other roll bars for the previous generation hard to sell is the shipping. Since they are all 1 piece hoops with removable harness and diagonal bars, they have to ship on a pallet via truck freight. Domestically this can cost up to $300 and international shipping can be thousands! Diversifying our product for the Porsche 991 Carrera, we made the all 1818 steel tube bolt-in bar to have extremely strong slip fit connections.

On the 996/997 bar, you had to remove the front seats to install it. Though we made it slightly lower to accomondate sunroof models, the chance of scratching something on install was prevalent. So we are making this 991 harness/roll bar even more user efficient. Having created similar items via Agency Power for the new Focus ST and Scion FR-S using this design, it allows for a super easy install or quick removal. The top hoop is connected to the b-pillars with a slip fit design and quick release pins. Using the lower seat belt mount on the b-pillar with a stout steel bracket, this allows for the seat to be position and reclined far back to accomondate up to a 6’3 driver. Also this design allows for regular Fedex shipping to save the customer on cost.

With the material and design, it is still very safe and provides the functionality and look 991 owners need. If you are looking for a FULL roll cage, this is not the product for you. This is a great item for the weekend DE driver wanting to have alittle fun. The roll bar | harness bars are available in several different powdercoat finishes and are built to order.
