KSR Shows off the Latest Agency Power Header and TRD Supercharger

At last year’s SEMA show the Ken Stout Racing (KSR) FR-S stole the show. It looks straight malicious. The look alone could kill the competition. Towards the end of the SEMA show Toyota Racing Development (TRD) announced they would be partnering with KSR to create a supercharger unlike any other.  The reason this supercharger is so unique is because it is the only FR-S utilizing the TRD supercharger. After SEMA it was on to testing and the finishing touches before the Pirelli World Challenge. Agency Power released an update on the car and how it did in race,

“Although the race wasn’t as victorious as Robert Stout would have hoped, the knowledge gained about the FR-S was invaluable.”  – Ken Stout

For now, it is back to the garage for more testing and preparation for the upcoming Toyata Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 19-21. To read more about the FR-S and the Agency Power Stainless Steel Header visit the Agency Power Blog.

2013 Corvette C6 Gets Ballsy with a New Borla S Type Exhaust

This is the new and improved Borla Sport system for the 2009+ C6 Corvette and we got a chance to install one here at Vivid Racing.  One of our employees vehicles, the 2013 Corvette C6 needs a little more growl to it.  That is where the Borla S-Type II exhaust comes into play.  With its chrome quad exhaust tips, the largely improved exhaust over stock gives the 6.2L V8 a nice burble on and off the acceleration.  This exhaust has the legendary Borla stinger aggressive exhaust tone  improved mufflers designed to minimalize cabin drone. This system is the loudest and most aggressive exhaust Borla makes for the C6 Corvette.  The drone is greatly reduced from the prior Sport systems (Borla #11766 and 11768), and theres no compromising of the exhaust tone and exterior exhaust volume.

The exhaust is available from Vivid Racing’s Borla Exhaust Store here.

Mitsubishi EVO VIII Still Reppin Vivid Racing Since 2004

Along time ago back in Vivid II (how we refer to locations), a tall older gentleman by the name of Dave brought his yellow Mitsubishi EVO VIII to us.  In his early 60′s, Dave built this car over the next 2 years into something that did not fit his business like image.  However that did not matter cause he sure had fun as hell doing it.  Commuting back and forth from Lake Havasu to fly out around the country, Dave wanted a car that handled amazingly, sounded great, and when on the 2 lane highway in the middle of the desert, he could blast it hard.  Eventually Dave sold his EVO VIII to a guy in Colorado.  Since then, we have not heard from Dave or the new owner.  Low and behold, its still around and reppin Vivid Racing hard!  The car features parts from Sparco, Cusco, Volk Racing, APR Carbon, Ralliart Japan, and much more.  Much respect for still reppin and keeping one of our favorite cars movin tough!  Check out all these Mitsubishi EVO VIII Parts Here.

Fastest Way to Get to the Soccer Game with an Aggressive Sound

When you hit that stage of family, you typically have 2 cars or sometimes 3.  The standard issue SUV for hauling the kids and going on trips.  The work sedan for commuting.  Then finally Daddy’s weekend sports car.  However when you own one of the BMW X5M V8 Twin Turbo SUV’s, you solved all 3 with one bad ass ride.  To further enhance the already strong performance of the 5.0L engine, Vivid Racing upgraded this Texas based truck with a new Meisterschaft GTS performance exhaust muffler.  A direct replacement for the OEM axle back, the Meisterschaft (German for Championship) gives a great new rumble and better looking quad round tips as pictures.  Check out the pics and short video below.  Remember to view all BMW, Mercedes, and other Meisterschaft applications here.

Nissan 350Z Gen II Boosts Up Power from Injen

Nissan wanted to make a comeback to the sports car market after their giant success with the 300zx.  The 240sx was ok at the time, but nobody could predict its heavy drifting involvement today.  So they worked on the new Nissan 350Z.  This Z came out in 2 generations.  The first being the 03-06 and then the 07-08.  On the Gen 2 models, though they looked identical, there were some variances in the engine and performance.  One of the biggest one was the dual intake setup.  What becomes just about everyones first modification of a intake and exhaust was definitely done here.  So our customer equipped his 2007 Z with the Injen cold air intake kit.  Injen has been around a long long time making intakes, exhausts, intercoolers for different cars worldwide.  With their California based R&D department and manufacturing, they ensure each product makes justifiable horsepower and reliability.  This cold air intake is no different.  As you can see from the customers install pictures, it snakes around to be in the perfect spot for drawing in cooler air.  Cooler air to the engine means an increase in performance.  Check out the pictures below and some of the customers installation tips.  Shop all our Nissan 350Z Performance Parts here.

Installation Advice by customer:

1. The removal of the Strut Tower Bar should be done after releasing the pressure by loosening the outer large bolts on the drivers side of the Strut. Counting the turns of the center nut should be done so reinstallation can go smoothly. Reinstallation: Once the 4 nuts on the passenger and drivers side are tight ( always a good idea to mark where the bolts were), retention the center nut and then tighten the outer nuts so tension is maintained. If this is not done correctly, while cornering the strut tower will not perform its job.

2. An additional note should be made with the horns to say that the wiring should be placed in front of the horns and not behind where they could rub against the radiator.

3. Figure 31 shows the placement of the new horn bracket and reads: ” The assembled horns and bracket are now lowered behind the bumper area and attached to the drivers side stock location.” It should read the Passenger side stock location.

4. Figure 36: Installation of the Silicone Intake Hoses. There were no notes to include that on the passenger side there is a stock Oil Cooler. The passenger side Silicone Hose presses on those hoses leading to the oil cooler in front of the passenger side lower radiator. Luckily the hoses are protected, but with the usage of that extra space, you will not be able to get the left side bumper plastic fastener back in the supplied bracket… fig 20 and 38.

Overall a great install
