Mitsubishi EVO VIII Still Reppin Vivid Racing Since 2004

Along time ago back in Vivid II (how we refer to locations), a tall older gentleman by the name of Dave brought his yellow Mitsubishi EVO VIII to us.  In his early 60′s, Dave built this car over the next 2 years into something that did not fit his business like image.  However that did not matter cause he sure had fun as hell doing it.  Commuting back and forth from Lake Havasu to fly out around the country, Dave wanted a car that handled amazingly, sounded great, and when on the 2 lane highway in the middle of the desert, he could blast it hard.  Eventually Dave sold his EVO VIII to a guy in Colorado.  Since then, we have not heard from Dave or the new owner.  Low and behold, its still around and reppin Vivid Racing hard!  The car features parts from Sparco, Cusco, Volk Racing, APR Carbon, Ralliart Japan, and much more.  Much respect for still reppin and keeping one of our favorite cars movin tough!  Check out all these Mitsubishi EVO VIII Parts Here.

Vivid Racing Employee Cars: Spotlight Evo 8

As you would imagine, interviews at Vivid Racing can quickly turn into an hour of car talk to be sure that we have the right candidate to service our customers with a level of expertise that our clients count on. When the story of  sales representative Arsha’s Evo came out we knew he would be the perfect fit.

Lucky enough to score his low mileage Evo in a wild GM Orange respray the Evo8 was destined for a big build and Arsha did not disappoint.  Keeping the stock bottom end, attention was given to the top end with ARP headstuds, Kelford‘s aggressive 272 camshafts pair with FP Beehive valve springs.  Up front the ETS Short route Intercooler piping and 3″ core helps to keep performance at its peak in our harsh desert environment. Power comes in with help of  FIC 1450CC injectors feeding  enviro-friendly E85, a Forced Performance FP Green HTA turbo and the indestructible Full-Race Prostock manifold, forcing boost through the Skunk2 throttle body into Buschur Racing’s ported intake manifold. Exhaust is removed with a custom 02 housing-back Agency Power exhaust system modified to fit with the JDM rear bumper.

All hands are on deck to keep a solid eye on the important functions of all this new power. Defi BF Series boost, oil pressure, and coolant temp gauges were added in a dash mounted pod. In addition to a AEM UEGO Wideband and Greddy Profec II Boost Controller to keep tabs on all the vitals.

Starting in the front exterior mods  include custom painted Evo 7 Headlights atop an Evo 8 Nose chopped front bumper to remove the Mistubishi emblem paired with a Do Luck Front lip. Out back  Evo 9 MR tail lights were added with the JDM Rear bumper and rarely seen Rexpeed Type-C trunk spoiler. Carbon fiber Ralliart mirrors Mitsubishi Rain Guards round out the mix in an all out refusal to leave anything OEM that didn’t fit the build. Up next,  Rota SVN-R 18×10 +20mm offset wheels are on all four corners with a 255/35/18 tire stretched over them to squeeze within flush to severely rolled and pulled fenders for fitment.  Camber and dampening is handled by Cusco Zero 2-RE W/ electronic dampening control and Agency Power Rear adjustable control arms.
