Fidanza Releases New Short Shifters for 2016

Fidanza has been around for a long time and known as the Flywheel and Cam Gear company.  Making some of the best lightweight flywheels in aluminum and steel, Fidanza has expanded its product offerings to now include short shifters.  The 3rd pedal cars are disappearing fast with the performance of dual clutch transmissions, but for those still clutching, a short shifter is a must in your car.  A short throw effectively decreases the amount of lever travel you have to go between gears by not reducing the height of the lever, but by elongating the lower part to the pivot point.  The distance traveled of the lever is less as the shifter is is able to move the linkage between gears with less effort up top.  Typical short shifters are made from treated steel.  Aluminum parts can be used on short shifter components, but it is not optimum for the pressure the lever is put through as you slam through the gears.  Fidanza has released short shifters for the following vehicles, all which are available from Vivid Racing!

AEM E85 High Flow Fuel Pumps On Special!

Boosted vehicles are super easy to make more power with.  You simply turn up the boost!  However there is a limit to what you can do on this for the safety of your engine.  This is why most tuners will suggest running 109 octane or if tuned for it, running C16 leaded race gas.  The cooler burner fuel helps your vehicle run the increase horsepower and torque from the upped boost levels.  At $10 per gallon though, full time race gas cars can get expensive.  This is where E85 comes into play.

E85 is an alcohol based fuel that is 85% Ethanol and 15% Gasoline.  Having a higher octane rating, slows down the burn rate of the combustion cycle. This means that it is possible to increase the boost level, compression ratio, and/or  timing advance and return the mixture to a burn rate similar to that of gasoline, having a comparable level of ’safety’ in the cylinder, a similar mixture volatility, but albeit at a much higher power level.

On average it is not uncommon to see power increases of more than 30% in a turbocharged vehicle over “pump” fuel and more than 10% power increases are not uncommon over a comparable unleaded race fuel but again every application is different and there is no golden rule. The bottom line is though is it is unlikely you will ever see a car go backwards by making the switch, they will always make more power on E85.  Because of the properties that make up E85, in most vehicles, it is necessary to change out certain fuel components such as the fuel pump or injectors.

The AEM E85 Fuel Pump is designed for in-tank installation on high performance naturally aspirated and forced induction vehicles. It flows 320 lph (84 gph) at 43 PSI (please refer to the chart for fuel pump horsepower versus pressure for various applications and fuel types). AEM’s E85 Fuel Pump features robust internal construction that is designed to withstand the low lubricity characteristics of ethanol and methanol fuels, and has been tested to work with ethanol fuels up to E100, methanol fuels up to M100 and all types of gasoline.

Subaru Continues To Keep Us On Edge with the STI

Since our beginning in 2001 with the first Subaru WRX, it has been the gateway vehicle to many enthusiasts and tuning shops.  The STI has always been the holy grail of the Subaru WRX chassis and until 2004, we did not get it here in the states.  Fast forward 10 years and Subaru has been unstoppable with their sales and teasing us with STI variants.  The all wheel drive Subaru WRX STI is the ultimate in turbocharged platform with it’s rally inspired wing and aggressive front end that changes every 2-3 years.  Such as they did with the BugEye S202 and other limited edition variants, Subaru has again shown off the S207 in bright yellow which is a Japan only vehicle.  And as much as we all want it, the STI BRZ is just some looks but not with the WRX STI turbocharged motor added.  We will still take the JDM styling!  Subaru has slayed its competition, the Mitsubishi EVO, and is still in the right direction.  Check these STI photos below.  You can see all our Subaru Performance JDM Parts Here.

Subaru Continues To Keep Us On Edge with the STI

PSHHH - Just a Subaru WRX

Love those customer photos!  Jon has this pretty sweet Subaru WRX which is one of my favorite body styles from 2011-2014.  He has taken no shortcuts in the mods.  The car is sitting on Airlift Performance air suspension enabling Jon to give it that perfect park or stance.  Helping the suspension is a set of ISC rear control arms and Megan Racing Toe Arms.  You got to have that camber and toe dialed with you are going to drop to the pavement!  Right now the car has a set of Varrsteon ES6 18×9.5 wheels but he has a set of Work VSKF 18×10 wheels waiting to be mounted any day.  Performance is still there keeping with Subaru heritage featuring a Cobb Intake, Tsudo downpipe, Nameless Catback, and a custom Stage 2 ECU Tune.  Its simple add on styling comes from a BT Aero Front Lip and Galvez custom side skirts.  Want to know more about this car and see other pictures?  Hit jon up on Instagram @its_canda.
