Ford Focus ST with Agency Power with Stainless Steel Catback Exhaust

Agency Power has taken the Ford Focus ST exhaust to a new level with their completely stainless steel catback for the new turbocharged vehicle. Utilizing CNC machined flanges, existing hanger points, TIG welding, slip fits for easy installation, and a modulare approach to the stock or aftermarket downpipe, they’ve simply nailed it.

This exhaust system features 1 large center muffler to keep the tone just right for those that that wish to cruise the highway and still have their ST sounding beastly! The tip of the iceberg with this exhaust system is its optional titanium tips that utilize a V-band camp design. Agency Power offers the tips in a traditional 4-inch dual setup, 4-inch split V design, and a triple tip with 2.75-inch tips filling the entire bumper outlet.

One of our recent customers, Joe Vanek, purchased this Agency Power exhaust for his Ford Focus ST and just had it installed. He reached back out to us with satisfactions saying, “Hey man thanks for everything again I’m super happy with how everything turned out!!!” Check out the pictures he sent us below, and you can browse all Agency Power products here.

VR Tuned Ford Focus ST ECOBoosted

Our friends over at P3Rally have just tuned their 2014 Ford Focus ST with the VR Tuned OBDII ECU Flash.  Our OBDII connector has you download your stock file where you send it to us to be custom tuned.  We then send you back the tuned file to load to your car to transform the performance of the 252 horsepower beast.  Including tuning of the vehicles boost, fuel, and timing maps, we also make changes to the torque limiters, VMax limit, O2 sensors for catless exhausts, and can even raise the rev limiter.  The car gains about 40 horsepower and 70ft/lbs of torque over stock to truly transform this 2.0L turbo into a beast.  Check out the flash pics and order your VR Tuned ECU Flash for the Ford Focus ST here.

"Le Yeti" Spotted in Canada with New ESM Wheels

When we built our Focus ST project car we got on the forums to get ideas and see what other people we doing to their ST. It was there we found this customer who’s motto is, “Just put rims on it and slam it!” We couldn’t agree more. When it was time for him to put his motto where his mouth was he chose a ST to put wheels on and slam.

He calls his ST “Le Yeti” because it dwells in the mountains of Canada and has the all-white look you would find on a majestic Yeti! He’s still in the beginning stages of his build, so he just got the essentials out of the way to start. As with most our project cars, wheels and suspension are the first mods we do.

He’s fitted with H&R Coilovers to ensure his Yeti’s slammed. Then he threw some ESM-004 wheels that he got from our guy Jacky (jacky@vividracing.com). These powder coated 18×9 5×108 +40mm look just aggressive, but still function well in the mountains and on rough terrain. To ensure he has good control, he upgraded his brake pads to keep up with his advanced setup. He’s runnin’ the hawk ceramic pads which will keep his Focus more responsive for longer, no matter where he’s driving.

Let us know what you think of “Le Yeti” or the awesome back drop behind him. You can tell us in the comment section below, or on Facebook or Instagram. Shop all Focus ST parts here. See our Project ST here.

Farewell to our Project Ford Focus ST - Road Trip Recap

If you have followed our epic build of the Ford Focus ST since January 2013, you will know that this is the most incredible Focus ST3 ever to grace the streets of the USA.  What started as a bone stock Focus ST3 became a super angry, widebody turbo breathing machine.  We recently sold the car to a member of the military where the car now resides in Washington State.  Already on a vacation in San Diego, California, the new owner road tripped the car through California stopping at several special points to him.  He was kind enough to share these photos.  Another Project Car in the bag and another one begins!

View all Project Ford Focus ST articles here.  You can view our complete ST build gallery here and purchase Ford Focus ST Parts here.

At La Jolla Beach

At Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego…Oohrah!

At Fort Tejon, CA coming over the Grapevine into the Central Valley

Mt Shasta is straight ahead

A complete illegal selfy. No worries, cruise control was on and I have 9 lives right?

Back at home at the magnificent Joint Base Lewis-McChord I Corps Headquarters building.

HMMWV’s are lined up for a drag race (was quite embarrassing actually :-)

Fast Ford UK Features the VR Project Focus ST

The Ford Focus is the car to have outside of the USA for tuners and enthusiasts.  Everything from the older Cosworth Escorts to the new RS400 and more.  The Focus ST that came to the states definitely changed my own perspective of Ford and brought many hot hatch fans over to the blue oval side.  Fast Ford UK is a very popular magazine in the United Kingdom and Vivid Racing was fortunate enough to be included in the July 2014 issue.  Check out the issue screenshots below and view our full Focus ST Gallery Here.  You can also shop all Ford Focus ST Parts Here and view Fast Ford UK’s site here.

All New Ford Focus ST Photo Bomb at Vivid Racing

Our super awesome Ford Focus ST is just over a year old with 3000 miles on the clock.  Still looking fresh with the Agency Power fender flares, grill, hatch wing, and diffuser, we decided to do some new photos in the back lot.  What makes this turbo EcoBoost so different is the bolt on mods, widebody wheels, and aggressive stance.  Having this car as a daily driver is suprisingly comfortable.  The KW Variant 3 coilovers give a smooth ride and really handle well along with our beefy prototype rear sway bar kit.  Using Falken tires on our 19×10 Niche 3piece wheels, we have no issues stopping with the upgraded Brembo 4piston 365mm 2 piece rotor brake kit on the front.  Along with the Cobb Tuning AccessPort, the Focus is a little tiny power machine.  Now if only we could have it all wheel drive!  Photos by Cody Gephart.

Just a reminder, this car is FOR SALE HERE.  Below the photos is a full modification list.

Mod List

Exterior

  • Widebody Fenders – Fiberglass design they are drilled into the body and secured with aluminum bolts and washers.  The body has been trimmed to allow for the wheel clearance.
  • Front Carbon Fiber 3 piece Spoiler – The front features 2 carbon fiber splitters and then a carbon fiber center piece to help form out the front end.
  • Carbon Fiber Front Grill – The custom carbon fiber grill is a replacement of the factory piece.  Giving the front end a look of the Fiesta ST rally cars, it features a different design that helps flow more air to the intercooler and radiator.
  • Carbon Fiber Diffuser – The diffuser is also a full undertray keeping the airflow under the car streamlined as it goes from the bumper to back axle.  Its strakes add a new dimension to the rear end.
  • Carbon Fiber Waist Spoiler – Below the rear window is a carbon fiber waist spoiler that has been painted leaving some carbon exposed.  This gives the rear end a bit more character.
  • Shorty Antenna – An aluminum shorty antenna replaces the big rubber RC car look one.
  • Everything has been professionally paint matched and installed.  All parts are Agency Power and made in the USA.

Interior

Amazing Photography Captured of our Ford Focus ST in Motion

While our Project Ford Focus ST sits on eBay hoping for a new owner, we thought we would shoot some photos on the Vivid Racing Dyno.  Our dyno has been getting a ton of attention lately with the launch of our VRTuned ECU Flash program.  With Porsche’s, BMW’s, and Audi cars making numbers, we are putting more use to this Dyno then its 8 years of ownership!  So enjoy these photos of the Focus taken by Cody Gephart.

Ford Focus ST Better Braking with Brembo Big Brakes

Our Ford Focus ST project car is 1 year old and with under 3000 miles, she is barely broken in.  With the Agency Power widebody flares, 19 inch Niche 3-piece wheels, Agency Power full power upgrades, and a Cobb Accessport tune, this car is dialed.  But with all this perfection, it is missing 1 thing… Brakes!  If I was ok with Grandma’s 1998 Ford Taurus brakes on this 300 wheel horsepower car, this blog would be done now.  We don’t, we aren’t, we can’t allow that.  Going fast and looking good is one thing, but functionality through the turns is always a way to build a well rounded Vivid car.

To be able to go fast in and fast out, you need a good set of brakes.  Sure some upgrade pads from EBC or Hawk with matching drilled rotors would be nice, but we want neck breaking.  Front wheel drive and front engine means 80% of the braking is done in the front!  Its not the amount of pistons you have, but the rotor surface area, the vanes of the rotor, and how that brake system dissipates heat.  Like many times before on past project cars (M3, CLS63, 997TT, 996TT), we have chosen to go with Brembo.  The Brembo brake system for the Ford Focus ST is a massive 365mm rotor.  The 2 piece rotor with patented floating hardware allows the pads to have true even wear under braking.  The drilled rotor design gives it the cool factor, literally, while the extensive vane construction allows for the primary function of heat dissipation to occur.  The 4 piston monoblock caliper offers extreme rigidity and has been engineered to the needs of the Focus ST.   The calipers are supplied with street performance pads that in our experience, take some real abuse.  As with all Brembo brake kits, steel braided brake lines are included which give the pedal a nice firm feel.

Installation on these brakes is quite simple.  Don’t expect to fit these under the stock Focus wheels though.  The rotor size will require 19 inch wheels.  As far as the price, everything has its justifications.  For function, there is no comparison to having a big brake kit on a car over stock.   This kit comes in around $3000.  But if that is to rich for your blood then Brembo still has your back with their 1 piece slotted brake kit at around $1900.  So how does the kit performance compared to stock?  You will just have to wait for the video on our YouTube Channel so make sure to subscribe!

Dark Horse ST Debuts Volk G25"s

When we started our Project Focus ST car, we set out to make something that no one else had. Through a series of body and performance upgrades, we think that we were able to accomplish a look for the Focus ST that was unlike any other. Since we’ve bought the ST we’ve been in contact with a lot of ST customers who are looking to build their own Project ST. This is a customer who we helped get that ultra unique edge on his ST project.

Our sales guy James (james@vividracing.com ext. 246) helped this guy get Volk G25′s re-drilled so they would fit his car. To our knowledge it is the first and only Focus ST to have this setup. Let us know if we’re wrong! But he didn’t stop with the wheels, he decided to give his Focus ST even more aggressive with a Body Styling Kit from Street Scene. You can’t get a sexy custom set of wheels without upgrading your suspension too. He chose the Eibach Sportline lowering Springs to get the job done. Eibach Sportline springs are made specifically for enthusiast that are looking for the maximum street performance with the lowest possible drop, and still have exceptional ride quality. To enhance his performance he went with the new Cobb Accessport V3 system and Cobb motor mount. Then, for a the cherry on top, a Cobb Shift Knob. Even though these upgrades have made a wold of difference for not only the appearance but the performance of his car, he sees a Milltek Exhaust and KW Coilover’s in his near future.

We will keep you update on this custom ST. But in the meantime, let us know what you think of the upgrades he did. Tell us in the comment section below or on Facebook, Instgram, or Twitter.

It’s a great coincidence that not only is he an enthusiast but a professional photographer as well! Here’s your car porn for the day…You’re Welcome!
