BMW Releases the M2 to Compete with Audi RS3

Well it is official, the BMW M2 has been released with info and pictures priding itself as a competitor for the Audi RS3.  The new M2 is 35kg lighter than the M235I that was out.  Looking like a baby M4, the new M2 will produce 364bhp and 465nm of torque out of the straight 6 3.0L turbocharged engine.  So how has BMW gotten to the 2 series?  As a former owner of a 135I, this sports coupe hit the money with its nimble handling, turbocharged engine, and rear wheel drive power.  Whether it was the N54 twin turbo or the N55 single turbo, these cars were extremely easy to modify and get great performance.  Size did not matter as it paid slight homage to the BMW 2002 of the 70’s.  BMW dropped the 1M with a small production run which has made the car priceless and hard to obtain.  Even though it is basically a tuned 135I with flared fenders and a quad tip exhaust, this was truly a track beast.  But the 1 Series came to an end and the 2 Series replaced it.  Having a similar N55 turbo engine in the M235I, the 300+ horsepower engine was strong enough and even stronger with tuning and a exhaust.  So now BMW has proven the 2 Series and ready to deliver their latest M Power monster, the BMW M2.  We look forward to power, styling, and modifications of the new platform once it ships state side!
