SmartTop Convertible Controller Video - Infiniti G37

If you have not seen a SmartTop in action for other cars like BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, than you are missing out on a cool piece of tech.  SmartTop manufactures an electronics module that allows you to control your convertible or hard top with one touch convenience.  Infiniti G37 Convertible owners can enjoy a simpler and more convenient top operation with the SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller. The add-on kit offered by SmartTop allows opening and closing of the top while driving at slow speeds of up to 40 km/h (~28mph) with one-touch convenience. It is no longer necessary to stop, pull over and hold down the switch for the entire duration of the operation.  Additionally the top can be controlled from the original factory key fob remote. A quick combination on the key fob puts the top in motion. This allows owners to air out the car before driving or to close the top of the parked car at the first sign of an impending rainfall.

SmartTOP modules also come with bonus features. The one for the Infiniti G37 offers the following features in addition to the aforementioned two main functions: The windows can be controlled by remote separately from the top. A quick double-click on the console switch acts as a convenience open and close command for all windows at once. Hazard blinkers can be activated during remote top operation. A short beep signal can be activated when locking the car by remote and the doors can be set to auto-lock when driving off. An extended mode can be activated which allows starting or stopping of the engine while the top keeps running and last but not least, the entire module can be temporarily disabled while retaining all user settings for when it is re-enabled later.

Programming the individual user configurable settings is simple via software that is available for PC and Mac. The SmartTOP module comes with a built-in USB connector. The software allows easy configuration of all settings and module firmware updates. Support software as well as updates are available online free of charge.

SmartTop continually works on improving their products over time. Effective immediately the module kits for the Infiniti G37 Convertibles come equipped with the new module enclosure. The enclosure was exclusively designed for this purpose, is smaller and fits in even tighter locations in the car. Two LEDs now clearly show the operating state of the module and thereby help during installation. The kit also comes with a custom full plug-in-between wiring adapter using only OEM plugs and connectors for a quick, perfect and secure connection between the module and the car electronics.

The SmartTOP Convertible Top kit for the Infiniti G37 and Q60 Convertible is available here on Vivid Racing. SmartTOP kits are available for the following popular brands: Alfa, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Infiniti, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Volvo and VW.

Nissan 370Z ECU Tune by VRTuned

Vivid Racing’s VRTuned ECU flash product has just conquered the Nissan 370Z with this great increase done on our Mustang Dyno.  The 3.7L 6speed manual transmission convertible was already equipped with a stillen catback exhaust and K&N short ram Typhoon intakes.  Coming to Vivid Racing for a ECU Flash and some PPE Headers, we first did a baseline of the car to test the difference with the ECU flash.  The car was run in about 65F temperature on 91 octane doing a 3rd gear pull.  Typical drivetrain loss for a rear wheel drive only car is about 10%.  This 2010 370Z came stock with 337bhp which means the intake and exhaust added about 30 horsepower or this car and calibration was a bit stronger than normal.  Only 22000 miles, all we really care about is what the difference is between our after tests and baselines.  So our baseline test gave us 333rwhp and 273 ft/lbs of torque.

The ECU tune for the Nissan 370Z requires the ECU to be removed from the vehicle.  The ECU is located behind the glove box which you can follow our ECU Removal Instructions here.  Once the ECU is pulled, we seperate the aluminum case of the Hitachi ECU and have to read and write the ECU in boot mode with pins connected to the programming pads.  Once complete and the new program is flashed to the ECU, we then did the after test.  One thing to note is with this ECU flash we can raise the rev limiter on manual transmission cars and also do a decat or raise the 02 limits for catless exhaust systems.  Tested within hours of our baseline, the car then made 347rwhp and 282 ft/lbs of torque.  The torque gain was pretty consistant throughout the full RPM test pull where the horsepower gains started to show at about 4500 rpm to redline.  In addition to the performance gains, the throttle is much more responsive and the car revs out quicker.  Check out the Nissan 370Z ECU Flash Here.

3 Mods Every Tuner Needs

The 370Z can look drastically different with even the slightest effort. No only does it stand out more than it’s predecessor, it doesn’t take much to make it stand out on the road. Our veteran sales guru Sean got his 370Z and started modding it immediately. I think we were putting a new exhaust on the day it came off the lot.

The three modifications did immediately when he got his car are the three mods we would suggest for any car coming off the lot; suspension, wheels and exhaust. The suspension will separate your car with stock vehicles. Not only will it handle better in tight situations but rockin’ a wheel gap isn’t an option with a car like the 370Z. Once the H&R sport springs were on adding wheels was a no brainer, but the decision of which wheels to go with is where it gets tricky.

Sean reached out to Wed wheels to see what new wheels they would be releasing. Because Sean is not only a car enthusiast but a sneaker head, having anything but the latest kicks is not an option. He needed that new-new and Wed Wheels was able to come through with their newly released SA-15R’s. The finish and fitment look rad with the sleek silver color of the car. The wheels define the sexy lines of the 370, like a high-heel accentuates a girls legs.

The other modification that makes a world of difference for any car but especially the 370Z, is the exhaust. You may have remembered us releasing this Agency Power Titanium Tip Exhaust at the end of last year and we still stand by our word. This may be the best sounding 370Z exhaust on the market. In true Vivid Racing fashion, once we got the exhaust on (before the wheels or suspension) we had to take it through a “Vivid Style” test run.

When it’s all said and done, Sean couldn’t be more pleased with his modifications. Although it wasn’t a gnarly build, his ride definately stands out in the crowd. If you’re interested in doing some basic mods or a full build sean (sean@vividracing.com ext. 226) or our other specialists can get you setup with exactly what you’re looking for!

Part Paramedic, Part Race Car Driver

This is a fan of ours that we came across, after a couple emails back-and-forth, this guy shared some pics of his awesome custom creation. It started with him emailing us admiring what we do and seeing if there were any possibilities of collaborations.  As he saw the quality of products and customer service in us, we saw the potential and appreciated the work he’d put into his Nissan 370Z. He lives a double life. He’s part Paramedic and part race car driver. Saving lives by day and demolishing dreams on the track by night. Here are a few mods he’s had done, along with pictures at the bottom. Nissan 370Z Packaged Well with ARK, H&R, Stillen, Stance Wheels

Nissan’s have been a car enthusiasts dream for a long long time.  Like if you can remember the Nissan commercials with the 300ZX remote control car driving through the house!  As Nissan evolved from its 240Z to 350Z, they decided to really up the bar with a more power, sleeker looking, 370Z.  With the Nissan 370Z came the tuner market charging hard.  Everything from basic bolt-ons to turbo kits have been thrown at this chassis.  For our customer Colton, he wanted to get his Z looking and sounding stout.  First to get the look he wanted, he lowered the car on a set of H&R Springs and added a set of 20 inch Stance Wheels.  Allowing the V6 engine to breathe more is a Stillen cold air intake kit featuring dual cone filters and a growling burnt blue tip catback exhaust by ARK.  Whats next for this Z project?  Check out Colton and the boys at the upcoming ZDAYZ show!
