Our friends at Fairy Design in Japan recently had a booth at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan.  TAS is JDM version of SEMA where many hot new products get debuted before they even come to the states.  All types of vehicles from Supercars to Subaru’s are shown off featuring aerokits, exhausts, turbo upgrades, wheels, suspension, tuning, and more.  Fairy Design is in the business of aftermarket aero kits including their new Maserati Granturismo widebody.  Other notable attendies showing off goodies included the infamous Liberty Walk, wheel pioneer BBS Wheels, and some very cool parts for Lexus platforms by Novel Japan.  If inquiries on these parts, contact our sales team at 1.480.966.3040 or email sales@vividracing.com.

Fairy Design CLA 250 | CLA 45 Wide Body Kit Up Close

The world of add-on fender flares has gotten a bit out of hand.  But can you blame the trend, these cars look amazing!  Between Rocket Bunny kits for the Scion FR-S, Liberty Walk for the BMW, GTR, Ferrari, Porsche, and now Fairy Design with their CLA kit, this new trend is giving cars some extra beef!  Even the latest Liberty Walk collaborations with Fairy Design for the Maserati Granturismo is insane.  But Fairy Design is not all flares.  Based in Japan, Fairy Design has kits available to rival others for the Mercedes G Wagon, Porsche Panamera, Maserati Quattroporte, and the 997.2 Carrera.

We had a kit shipped to us here at Vivid Racing to show you the kit in depth.  The fender flare kit for the CLA is a 10 piece kit.  This includes both the front and rear fenders.  The front fenders are a 4 piece kit and the rear is a 6 piece kit to make sure all the transitions are flawless.  The front spoiler lip can be had in carbon fiber or fiberglass like the flares.  The lip is an OEM replacement to give the front a more striking style.  The rear diffuser also available in either material is a simple add-on but much more aggressive.  Finally the trunk wing, another add-on which you can leave in carbon or get paintable FRP.  The spoiler has a long top section that sits on the trunk lid giving it a beautiful elongated look.

Liberty Walk is continuing to make drool out of mouths of tuners and enthusiasts everywhere.  This is one of the 2 cars that will be debuting at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon coming up here in Japan.  We have already shown off the Maserati Granturismo here, but now they have let us in on their next creation, the Audi S5 or the A5.  The S5 3.0L Supercharged car is pretty awesome as is and digitally impressive inside.  One of the major issues with Audi’s is getting a good fitment of wheels because of the fender and clearance.  Now you can do whatever the F*&K you want with this new Liberty Walk kit!  This thing screams DTM race car!  Love it? So Whats Involved with Installing Fender Flares?

The latest trend for the past 2 years has been all focused on widebody kits and fender flares.  We dabbled in this fun with our Project Focus ST flare kit as well.  Most likely you are tuned into the trends and have seen the Liberty Walk take over with cars like Ferrari, BMW, Lamborghini, Porsche, and even now the Maserati.  Another Japanese company called Fairy Design, has their own take on the fender flare movement with the Mercedes CLA sedan.  Those cars look pretty rad all hunched down with the mega flares, but what is involved in installing them.

If you want to go wide, the first thing you are going to need to do is get wider wheels and tires.  The obvious reason you can go from a 19×8.5 to say a 19×10.5 is that they would rub like a mofo!  So what is hidden under these flares?  Cutting, cutting, cutting.  Just as we did on our Project Focus ST, you have to cut the body.  Not a lot, but enough where there is no turning back.  When done right, these kits give an entire new look and styling to what is generally a slim lined car.  Check out these pictures of the Fairy Design Mercedes CLA 250 or CLA 45 Kit installation to understand what is involved.
