We"ve got Friends in High Places - Zurita Update

No, not those kinds of places. Literally, this is our friend Coco Zurita, BMX superstar just sent us some update pictures from the X-Games in Brazil and even though his ride is different than the ones we usually cater to, he repped the Vivid Racing sticker on his helmet. He ended up in second place and we couldn’t be more pumped for him. We met Coco in 2010 when we sponsored him be cause as much as he loves speed on his bike he loves speed in his EVO X too. Check out all the Coco Zurita updates here. Here are the pictures he sent us from his run in Brazil. So cool to see other people living out their dreams.

Customer Upgrades his 350 Z with Work Durandal"s

This customer is not new to the aftermarket world. This is not this guy’s first rodeo when it comes to picking out a sexy set of wheels, to give his 350Z a whole new look. We have seen him rock Volk’s, Forgestars, and now he’s spoiling us with pictures of his newest pair of kicks. Our sales guy Dado (dado@vividracing.com ext.236) hooked him up with a pair of Work  Wheels Durandal DD 5.2′s to give his car, yet another, look.  They sit perfectly flush to be sexy but still functional. He went with the 19 x 10-5 R disc 5 x114.3 on the front and the 19 x 11-6 O Disc 5 x 114.3 on the back, just enough difference to give that truculent stance you’re looking for. They are calm silver cut clear (CFP) with a reverse lip. Check out more of this Z’s pictures here. Find your own set of wheels and tires here.

What do you think of the setup? Tell us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Gallardo LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica gets VF Supercharged

VF Engineering has been supercharging our cars for years. We’ve added a VF’s Supercharger to 997′s, our M3 project car and seen it upgrade a BMW Z3M. We aren’t the only person who knows the power VF can give an elite car. They recently received this 2013 Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera straight from Lamborghini in Newport, CA. This is the client’s second Lamborghini to get supercharged by VF Engineering and the only Arancio Argos Gallardo  in the United States.  Below is the progression of the build VF Engineering did to this supercar.

Nissan GT-R, Lambo, Noble, and Others Highway Video with a Helicopter

Vivid Racing put on its first ever invite only Poker Run that covered 300 miles of some of the coolest 2 lane back roads that we know of.  With such incredible cars from ZO6′s, M3′s, Lamborghini LP560, our Noble M400, and a slew of other rides, we circled a route around the southwest valley here in Arizona.  Where most people just use some in car cameras or show side by sides, we went next level… got a helicopter!  Dream come true since 2004 Gumball 3000 movie was filmed.  Chasing us down “dead cow” road, flying up the I-8, and cruising through the old mining towns, our group had an amazing time.  Enjoy this cinematic video from www.codygephart.com and remember to SUBSCRIBE to our channel and view our other videos!

This 997 GT3 gets a lesson in Brembo Technology

The Porsche 997 GT3 was made to race. The enhanced model of the 997 is built to beat opponents on the track or road. With a faster engine comes the need for better performance breaks. That’s why this GT3 customer contacted Ahmed (Ahmed@vividracing.com ext. 231) our sales guy. He ordered the Brembo Iron Tyoe III Rotor Conversion with Performance Friction Brake Pads. Once this customer recieved his Rotors, he noticed that the hardware seemed loose. This was the customer’s question to our sales guy.

“The Brembo rotors and PFC brake pads installed fine. One question on the rotors. I noticed that some of the hardware that secure the discs to the aluminum hats appear to be “loose”, but a printed sheet in each shipping carton said not to tighten the hardware. Were the rotors assembled by Brembo? Attached are several photos to show that the hardware appears to be tightened a different amount depending on the location of the fastener on the hat. I don’t want to run the car at track speeds if the rotor hardware is installed incorrectly. Is the brake torque on the discs carried by the fastener hardware?”

This is question is more common than one would think. We reached out to our friends at Brembo to see what the exact protocol is and what a good explanation for our customer would be. Here was his response,

“Do NOT to touch those bolts! That is the way they are supposed to be. Here is a paragraph from the FAQ section on our www.racetechnologies.com web site: Some of the bushings in the two-piece disc assembly seem to be loose.”

“The two-piece disc assemblies utilize a floating disc. The mounting system of the disc is designed to allow a specific amount of float in both the radial and axial directions. Brembo has engineered special springs that are used on every other fastener in order to slightly preload the assembly. This has been done to prevent excessive noise from the system during street use, while still maintaining the benefits of a floating disc. These springs can be seen when looking at the backside of the disc. The small screws on the backside of the disc are properly torqued during assembly and utilize thread lock compound to prevent loosening. They must not be tightened further.”

This a great lesson for anyone new to Brembo or those who are trying their hand out at the two-piece rotor set. If you have any question about a fitment or install, call or email our sales office Monday through Friday 9-6 PST. The phone number is 1-866-448-4843 or email sales@vividracing.com. Project BMW M3 Supercharged Apocalyptic Photoshoot

Our Project BMW M3 has been one of the most fun daily driver project cars yet.  Making 500 rear wheel horsepower with the help of a VF Engineering VF620 supercharger kit, it was time that we changed up the look of the M3.  How many photos of a car in a parking structure, next to a jet, the obligatory magazine slow motion rolling shot, or with a bad tattooed model over a car can you really see?  So we went next level to middle of freaking nowhere to show off our latest update to our BMW M3 E90 and shoot a new video to debut soon on our YouTube Channel.  We did not just park it and take some “hellasimple” photos, we got down and dirty!

So what changed on the BMW from last time?  Well, we did a color change from the lime green accents to a bright copper finish on the mirrors, Brembo Brakes, and new Niche 3 piece wheels.  Makers of all those “other” guys popular wheels, the Niche Agile is a super concave 3 piece wheel that gives you no lip and all dish.  The center forged aluminum comes all the way out to the outer hoop edge.  This set for the BMW M3 is a 20×9 and 20×11 with aggressive offsets that still allow you to push that car hard in the turns without rubbing.  The inner and outer barrels were finished in the bright copper while the centers were done in a brushed and clear coat with machined race pockets to reduce weight.  Wrapping the wheels is of course, our favorite tire company, Toyo Tires.  The Toyo T1 Proxes are a great street tire with a high z rating and long tread life.  The front is a 255/30/20 and the rear is a 285/30/20.  Of course, the style is nothing without the Vorsteiner aero kit featuring their front bumper with carbon lip and their carbon fiber trunk.  With matching accents under the hood, this revamp of our BMW M3 and new photoshoot is one for the record books!

Only 1 more update left and she is gone!  Stay tuned for our new video.

After the dirt…  Cleaned up nice!
