Introducing the new HKS GTIII-RS Turbo Kit for FA20

The BRZ/86 is a popular car amongst enthusiasts for a variety of reasons, but most will agree that it’s underpowered. It’s not slow, but the chassis could handle more power, especially after improved suspension and sticky tires are added. There is only so much you can do with a naturally aspirated 2.0L engine that is pushing 100 horsepower per liter without adding forced induction to the mix. HKS is a huge name in the JDM market, and they’ve just released their GTIII-RS turbo kit for the FA20.

What’s special about this new turbo kit is the turbocharger itself. With a large turbocharger, you’ll have a ton of top end power because that’s where the turbo threshold will be. Unfortunately, a large turbo will be laggy and make your car terrible to drive on the street. Using the smallest and most efficient possible turbocharger to meet your power goals is ideal, as you’ll have great throttle response and a lot of low-end power which will make your car very street friendly. The GTIII-RS turbo kit focuses on providing the best possible throttle response by using a relatively small turbocharger with a lightweight billet compressor wheel.

As you may be able to tell from the list above, this is nearly a complete kit. The fuel system and ECU tune will be left up to you, as everyone wants something a little bit different. As tested by HKS, a stock FA20 can make 350 horsepower with this kit and a built 2.1L stroker FA20 can make 450 horsepower. These are crazy power levels considering how responsive the GTIII-RS turbocharger is. If you’ve wanted to boost your FA20, then this is the perfect kit for you.

Yuzu Yellow Scion FRS with Volk Racing Wheels and HKS Coilovers

One of our customers, David Bailey, recently purchased and installed Volk Racing ZE40 wheels on his Scion FRS with HKS Hiperman MAX IV GT coilovers. The wheels were done in a diamond dark gunmetal finish and measure 18×10+40mm 5×100. The HKS coilovers he used will fit all Scion FRS/BRZ models from 2013-2015.

New HKS V3 Supercharger Kit for Scion FRS & Subaru BRZ Available for Pre-order!

Now available for pre-order, HKS has went back to the drawing boards and revised the popular FR-S/BRZ Supercharger kit to make even more power! The V3 Supercharger kit now has a larger inlet pipe diameter, larger supercharger pulley and they have removed the restrictor plate. These changes optimize the airflow into the supercharger, allowing a slower spinning, but more efficient airflow. The reduction in supercharger speed, along with less restrictive airflow, allows for a larger volume of air and cooler intake temperatures than before, creating more power than previous variations of the kit. In addition, the V3 Supercharger is available with and optional Flash Editor with pre-programmed tunes for 91 octane and E85.

HKS Japan Stops By Vivid Racing to Show off New FRS Products

Working with people worldwide is awesome, but it’s always nice when we are able to meet in person. Usually this happens at events like SEMA or other trade shows, that make worlds collide. But we were honored when the representatives from HKS Japan stopped at our humble shop to show us their latest project in action. Although most of the car was stock, the parts that were HKS were audibly and visually noticeable. HKS just released their HKS Hipermax GT Max IV coilovers for the FRS as well as a catted front pipe.

As we were shooting pictures they were explaining a lot of the reasoning and technology behind the each product. For example, after seeing a lot of other front pipe come into production they decided to go with a catted front pipe so the sound is more refined but not deafening. It’s a front pipe for the daily drivers that want to sound sexy. Here’s a little better description of what you can expect with the new HKS Hipermax GT Max IV Coilovers,

“The PNE Coating provides 5 times better durability over standard galvanizing. This prevents build-up around the threads of the adjustment areas allowing for easier height adjustment. The Hipermax “M Shaft” creates “suppleness” by optimizing the internal oil pressure properties.”

These are just a few things HKS has done to make sure their Coilovers are some of the best on the market. The S2000 You don"t Want to Run into!!!

No matter how you feel about imports or “Ricer’s,” this is a car that any car enthusiast can appreciate. This S2000 owner has done a great job outfitting his Honda to be a modded out piece of machinery. A little more to this story is, this car is apparently best friends with the wicked EVO we introduced you to a while back. If you missed that EVO here’s the write up. Either way, you don’t want to miss these pictures and mod list, it’s one to envy. Our sales guy’s Arsha’s (arsha@vividracing.com ext.  225) helped this guy with his build and in return, he not only sent us pictures of his bad ass S2000, but he sent us a write up as well.  Here’s his write up and pictorial on this not so typical S2000. “Remember a few weeks back we did the write up about the Evo X that Arsha has been helping with parts.. Well this is his best friend.

When looking at this car your first thought is Ricer, or stupid Honda owner. But this Guy is far from it. Every part has a purpose and nothing has been overlooked or skimped on. From the full motor build to the APR wing and Wasp Composite race splitter that may look ridiculous to most, but when you take into consideration that he tracks this Daily Driven 651 WHP monster you understand the purpose. Even though it looks mostly stock on the outer shell there is nothing stock about under the hood or suspension.

Now you don’t build a track car like this without knowing a thing or two. After seeing the racing resume, which includes a national road racing championship in shifter karts, that he has been around the block once or twice on the track. There is still much more to come for this viscous monster and we can’t wait to see the finished product.
