Project Cars are what makes the Vivid Racing brand famous and/or infamous. Â There are times when we straight nail it, and this is one of those times. Â With our old 997.2 Turbo S sporting the white body with blue chrome Niche wheels, we were just in love with that style and combo look. Â So we pulled together this new combo of white and red. Â The wheels that come on the Turbo are 5×130 19 inch but we optioned for the Turbo S centerlock 20 inch wheels. Â So keeping the centerlock raciness, we looked to our wheel partner, Niche Wheels, the true industry maker of the forged wheel industry for a sweet setup on our 991 Turbo. Â We took the wheel size one step further and did 21×9 and 21×12 setup with their multi-piece design. Â Why 21 inch? Â Well we are not the first to do this. Â It does blow our mind that we are putting 21′s on a sports car. Â But the same was thought when the 997.1 came out and people were going from 19 inch to 20 inch.
This particular wheel style was done to get a semi concave look with the big split, thin spoke design. Â The wheels are not anodized but first brushed and then powder coated with a tinted red clear coat. Â This brings out a brillant red chrome look that is beautiful at every angle. Â The wheels feature black rivet hardware to help split up the inner and outer barrel while complimenting the center locking nut. Â Because of the 21 inch wheel size, tire selection is tough to find in the sizes needed. Â Much like our Project Viper, the rear size is massive and hard to find. Â Conveniently, our friends at Pirelli Tire make the size we need. Â The P-Zero are done in a 325/25/21 in the rear and a 255/30/21 in the front. Â For those running a 21×13 rear, you can go with Pirelli’s P-Zero 345/25/21 as we have on the SRT Viper.
With the new shoes, we needed to get rid of that offroad look the 911 now had. Â Because of the complexity of the stock suspension and its benefits the new PASM system has, we chose to just upgrade the suspension with H&R Springs. Â On previous Project Cars such as our BMW M3 E90 and BMW M5 E60, we had H&R springs on both of those and were very satisfied with the street ride. Â The 991 Turbo H&R Springs lower the front of the car 1.1 inch and the rear 1.1 inch for a perfect balanced stance. Â When driving the car in comfort mode, the car still absorbs the bumps and rides quite nice. Â When PASM Sport Suspension Mode is enabled, the car then feels as if you were on coilovers. Â Because there is no adjustability with rebound and compression, the car could benefit from sway bars as it feels as if it wanders a bit more at higher speeds. Â Overall, the H&R Springs are a great addition to the Porsche 991.
We have more updates coming hot! Â So stay tuned to our official Porsche 991 Turbo Gallery here.
